Schools

Invite me into your classroom!

I'll spark creativity in your students while explaining my writing process to them through a series of fun hands-on activities and finish with a book signing. They will hear how my ideas go from bouncing around in my head to being alive on the page and the different people and roles that help that transition happen smoothly.

A week or two before my presentation, you send a pre-order form home with each student (provided to you at the time of booking). This way, books are ordered through my website and the school doesn't need to wrangle cash.

On the day of my presentation, I'll have a limited number of books with me that will be for sale cash-only (the pre-order really is the best way to go - if you have children who you know are bringing cash, please let me know so I can make sure to have enough books!). Every child will leave the presentation with a token to remember the experience by!

#Disruption

In Canada, 25% of children in grade 3 are NOT reading at grade level.

This was before the pandemic.

It's estimated that pandemic disruptions will cause socioeconomic skill gaps to increase by an additional 30%. Pre-pandemic, children from these communities were nearly twice as likely to have delays in their early development skills.

#Read4Life

Almost 14% of Canadian grade 10 students lack the basic reading skills to effectively navigate our society.

Reading for pleasure has repeatedly been shown to increase feelings of wellbeing, jumpstart relaxation and boost mood regulation.

By sending kids off into the world without a strong literacy foundation, we are restricting their career opportunities and the mental health tools avaliable to them

#ignite

Porsche Ray wrote her first novel in Grade 3 and hasn't lowed down.

A "kid" herself, she writes stories she wants to read, not just stories that teach specific messages or push targeted aspects of a curriculum.

She invites other children to join her in reading and creating enjoyable materials.

#ActuallyAutistic

Porsche Ray is autistic. She sees the world through a unique lens. She speaks about inclusiveness and the need for accommodation, calling on everyone to make all spaces safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all abilities.

Give her the chance to ignite the spark of creativity in your students! Book a presentation & book signing today!
